Acorns

Botanical Engraving (1800s)

Acorns are associated with wisdom and good luck and in Germany were used to decorate Christmas trees. In Norse mythology, acorns were kept on windowsills to protect from lightning. It was believed that Thor, the god of thunder had once been protected by an oak tree during a storm. In the British Isles, wearing an acorn symbol was thought to help ensure a long life.

It is said that if you bury an acorn in the light of the moon, it will bring you a financial windfall.

Remember to carry acorns in your pocket for good luck and a long life.
