Knitting

Updated: Dec 19

Painting by Clement Burlison (1815-1899)

Knitting is a skill that has been part of the cultural fabric across the world for over 500 years, and there are countless superstitions surrounding it. Here are just a few of the more common superstitions:

To bind your love to your heart, knit a strand of your hair into a sweater before gifting it to your sweetheart.

If you knit your lover a pair of socks, they will walk out of your life forever. Knitting wool outdoors will increase the days of winter.

When you knit a sweater for a romantic partner, the relationship will end before the sweater is finished. When you hand a friend a pair of knitting needles, your friendship will be stabbed.
